This workshop helps us on a journey of connecting more deeply with nature and spirit, attuning to the rhythms of the natural world and becoming aware of and living in harmony with the many ecosystems and universes around us. The process itself is one of deep healing and classes on raw foods and medicinal herbs serves this sensibility. We look at different worldviews and understand deep ecology from a experience the process of a shamanic journey through the earth, water and starry planes into the beyond.
Philosophy and practice of Deep Ecology (George and Jim)
Self Healing with raw foods and plant medicines(Oksana)
Shamanic travelling (Gossamer)

The workshop begins with a week on the philosophy and practice of deep ecology. In the afternoons we focus on the practice of deep ecology and deepening our sensitivity to the subtle realms around us, through optional ecological walks, meditations, gentle yoga, vegetable growing, observing and interacting with the many ecosystems here, and experiencing the ecological design principles behind the building of this retreat.
During the second week the focus is on self healing and becoming more sensitised to the energy patterns within our bodies. Our sessions explain how to make fermented foods such as kambucha and kimchi, jamu, and raw foods. We also design and build a super-foods garden or balcony. We learn to grow wheatgrass, chlorella, moringa, turmeric root, aloe vera and many other medicinal herbs.
During this week we begin the shamanic journey into the deepest realms of our consciousness. Our focus is on soul travel via deep meditation, sounding and sacred fire ceremonies. We work with the earth portals and songlines to the higher dimensions.
The main intention of this workshop is for attendees to come to deeply understand one’s ecosystem and how to design and build from a site-specific perspective. We consider the many and varied ecosystems pre-existing at one’s location and move through the process of building structures in harmony with these elements of nature. We will learn through practice how to build earthern structures from mud and cob, how to develop a bio swimming pool and how to grow vegetables, and food forests. We hope attendees will leave with a strong sense of self-reliance and community based upon holistic and ecologically regenerative living.
Observing, interacting with and coming to understand all the natural elements of a plot of land (site), and how to design and develop this site based on principles of deep ecology and permaculture. Introduction to passive ecological systems of water, energy and waste management.
Deep ecology walks, identifying soil types, starting a bio pool.
Deeper theory on passive ecological systems: how we, as humans, live and interact within our domestic environments, identifying species for a bio pool….
Laying foundations and making mud bricks, building a mud brick and cob structure, developing a bio pool.
Exploring the most necessary technical and structural elements of building, interior design and aesthetics in designing with nature, case studies in the evolution of a bio pool.
Making mud plasters and paints, developing a bio pool.
Community based living and economics. Case studies of ecological projects, including the design of Mawun Mud Community.
Finishing the bio pool, mindful gardening and vegetable growing.
